Science! or Science?

Well, you never know until you try. This is so true especially in the world of science. You meet with a scientist-to-be who said: Oh, I’ve read that paper before and another science fanatic said: That paper is really famous. But for me, it’s: what paper? Oh, I don’t really care unless it’s related to my research.

There are just so many papers to read that I don’t even have the time dedicated to reading journals. And isn’t there so many other fun stuff to do besides reading someone else’s report on their super long experiment which might or might not even produce results?

Actually, I tried. I signed up for Science Daily for its free subscription online and nope, I didn’t read science daily. But then came the journal presentation for the program. It’s about our precious little brain. Boring! Ya, I know! At first glance, I didn’t want to even read the abstract, the title itself is enough to make you yawn a million times.

Anyway, as time approaches close to the presentation day, I started to take it more seriously. I read once (with the help of Google and Wikipedia of course) and ventured into the world of neuroscience. Actually the paper wasn’t that interesting but neuroscience is VERY interesting! Well, there are a lot of terms you need to remember as you read on but I guess if you read it for fun (as in not for exam!), it’s really fun!

Anyway, the presentation is over with a lot of positive feedback (and questions) from the professor, who’s a brain and PD expert. And I have to say that I’m proud of my Malaysian plain English cause no one could really guess where I’m from. And it’s plain English so everyone could understand; at least that’s what I think :)
